Steve Marinucci is a veteran journalist who worked 37 years for the San Jose Mercury News, a major metropolitan daily paper beginning as a lowly copy clerk and ending up a section editor with a small staff. He wrote many freelance music articles and interviewed several famous names, including Yoko Ono and Bruce Johnston of the Beach Boys. It was while he was there he established Abbeyrd's Beatles Page, the first online Beatles news site with original Beatles news that was reported by the site. Among the scoops the site had were the announcement of the Concert for George several days before it was announced publicly.
After leaving the Mercury News, he became the Beatles Examiner columnist for Examiner.com, a column that run from the earliest days of the site to the day it shut down. During his time there, he also took on three solo Beatles columns and Examiner gigs for "Weird Al" Yankovic, Vintage Rock 'n' Roll and TV on DVD. In 2013, he co-founded the podcast Things We Said Today, He left the show in the second half of 2018 and began Beatles News Briefs. He has also done freelance writing for Billboard, Variety and Goldmine, among others.
